To dance and create dances, beautiful and inspirational work, is my dream and I have been working for this with utmost single-mindedness a long period of time, over 27 years! I am reaching the point where I want to share through educational programs and also support the dance community as a presenting organization.

WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company is a potent stimulus for change and expansion of the dance/arts world through the creation of new dance works, production of dance concerts, and education and outreach through dance classes. " The Company creates dance pieces that share with audiences of all cultures a modern perspective of timeless issues through the expressive medium of dance. " The Performance & Rehearsal Space (John Ryan Theater) showcases emerging and established choreographers and dance companies " The Company provides a wide range of dance education, serving both professional and recreational dancers, with classes for adults and children.

WHITE WAVE accomplishes its mission by providing opportunities for dancers and choreographers to create, rehearse, perform their art and network with each other, and by engaging the local dance community in an ongoing arts dialogue, carrying dance and art forward through sharing and collaboration.

The d.u.m.b.o. dance festival presents the work of six to seven choreographers every hour to a packed audience and the numbers speak for themselves. Over the past four years the annual d.u.m.b.o. dance festival and the Cool New York DANCE Festival have been extremely successful, with over 440 participating choreographers and dance companies, over 1800 participating performers, and well over 18,000 audience members. During these performances, at any given time, approximately half again as many people as the theatre could accommodate were lined up outside the John Ryan Theater, in a line reaching two blocks down the street.

The festivals at WHITE WAVE are sponsored by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Brooklyn Borough President's Office, Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Samsung Electronics America, INC, LG Electronics America, Inc., The Korea Society, Korean Cultural Service, and the support of individual donors. Also, the 2005 d.u.m.b.o. dance festival is made possible in part with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts. In Kings County, this program is administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council, Inc. (BAC).

The installation of WHITE WAVE's new, fully equipped state-of-the-art lighting system is funded by a generous grant from the Mertz Gilmore Foundation. The annual d.u.m.b.o. dance festival, and the Cool New York DANCE Festival stand apart from the countless other arts and performance events in New York City by their grand scale, their diversity and their drawing power to audiences, a result of the participation of a broad spectrum of established and emerging artists with a cutting-edge creativity and vast interdisciplinary ethic. We hope that you can envision the enormous benefit these festivals and programs at WHITE WAVE can have, not just for New York's vital dance community but for the public at large. By creating a platform for emerging choreographers to show their work and providing a much-needed space where they can rehearse and perform, WHITE WAVE can fulfill its mission of being a potent stimulus for change and expansion in the arts world.

We are grateful for the support received from especially YOU, as it empowers WHITE WAVE to reach out to the dance community in New York City and beyond and service all those who love to create, perform and view dance.

The severity of financial crises is not new to the performing arts, and dance particularly has had to fight for every inch. Supporting the arts, especially in this time, demands a stern commitment to the positive development of our community as a whole. By lending us a hand, your commitment to this cause will be greatly appreciated by the hundred of artists and thousands of audience members who we are serving now and the future.
