2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL + WAVE RISING SERIES

WHITE WAVE invites you to submit applications for two exciting upcoming festivals: the ninth annual 2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL and the fourth annual WAVE RISING SERIES 2009.

2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL (September 24 - 27, 2009)
Designed to showcase the work of approximately 85 emerging and established choreographers and dance companies from all over the United States and abroad, in marathon-like performances. The 2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL will be concurrent to the 13th annual d.u.m.b.o. arts under the bridge festival. Curated by WHITE WAVE, the programming will represent the freshest and most original emerging contemporary artists. The dance festival is held at WHITE WAVE'S John Ryan Theater and Brooklyn Bridge Park under the Manhattan Bridge and is free to the public. The audience has the opportunity to enjoy up to 6-7 different companies in each hour of programming. The schedule includes an OPENING NIGHT GALA kick off performance, evening and daytime weekend performances.

WAVE RISING SERIES (October 21 - November 8, 2009)
Launched in 2006, the WAVE RISING SERIES to further WHITE WAVE's commitment to find, nurture, and expand opportunities for extraordinarily gifted artists. The third annual WAVE RISING SERIES will present approximately 20 dance companies, selected and tightly curated by Young Soon Kim and an eight-member selection panel including prominent figures from the dance world, will be showcased in a full-length program (30 minutes per company). The series is a perfect opportunity for choreographers who want to perform a New York season, but may not have the time or resources to produce a full event. WHITE WAVE is taking care of all of the production and PR for these independent choreographers and is well known for packing a full house into its John Ryan Theater. We strongly encourage outstanding artists to propose new works for this series, which will run for the three weeks.
